Back in my day (do I sound old yet?), Polly Pocket was a microscopic, teeny weenie toy that you lost about 5 minutes after you bought it. We loved them nonetheless, and we totally sported bulging back pockets while we toted around our clamshells in our jean pockets.
Polly’s come a long way, baby. You could say she’s grown up! We’ve been playing with the Polly Pocket Hangout House for a while, and we’ve been having a blast!
Let me tell you — this Polly Pocket playset is COOL. Like, I play with it. It’s decked out, man! Elevators, swings, pools that flip over and turn into beds — really fancy pants! I was opening the package and I got a little nervous. There’s a ton of tiny pieces, so I knew we’d have to be careful since we have a 16 month old in the house. Upon further inspection, I noticed that EVERYTHING had a suction cup on the bottom so that it would stay put! Even Polly’s shoes have suction cups on the bottom so she can stand up! That, my friends, is just plain smart toy making.
We keep all of the pieces in a zippered bag for safe keeping, and it’s been great! The box that you see on top is actually a patio that can attach to the Hangout House, but we like to use it at two separate play areas — one for Emma (5), and one for Micah (3). That way, everyone has a Polly and everyone has a play area. Perfect!
We will absolutely be playing with this more in the future. It’s perfect for imaginative play, and it’s fun to create your own scenes! Emma says she likes it, “like, a HUNDRED!” I think that’s 5 year old speak for “I LOVE IT!”
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mattel Polly Pocket. I received a product samples and a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
