So I’ve been trying to ignore it for a while and live in a state of denial, but I can’t deal any more. It’s official. My running shoes don’t fit. I can go for a run, feel fine, but the second I take them off, it’s a whole ‘nother bag of issues. I’m left with huuuuge blisters on the balls of my feet that take a few days to heal, and that’s just not fun, my friends. Not fun at all.
So we meet again…
So I’ve decided that until I can get a new pair of shoes (see also: save up $100+ of expendable income), I’ve taken it inside. Before we moved to this new house (oh, about a month ago), I bought Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD. I had great success with her 30 Day Shred DVD, but I was getting bored. The moves were the same, and it was just getting pretty stale. I love her 3-2-1 system, though, so I figured I’d love her Ripped in 30.
I was right! But HOLY COW she does not mess around. The moves don’t repeat as much, and they’re all fresh and new. Sweet! In true Jillian fashion, I felt like I’d just run a marathon the next day. I swear the whole workout is done in a squat or lunge of some kind! After a few days of Ripped, I needed to mix it up a bit or else I might’ve died in a puddle of sweat on the floor.
And then came Pilates
You know, you see these paparazzi shots of Hilary Duff walking out of her Pilates class, and she looks like she just had a fantastic workout. Polished, stylish, and totally cute:
Newsflash: I do not look like this after I’ve finished Pilates.
I loved that it was a crazy good strength workout, but oh boy. If I had to do any more leg circles I might have died. I feel it today, for sure! Also, I found a really amazing website that has awesome Pilates workout videos for free, so stay tuned for that post!
I’m glad I’m doing things other than just running, because it’s so important to keep confusing your body and your muscles. I can’t say I get the same “HECK YES” feeling that I get after running, but I definitely feel like this is going to help improve my endurance and stamina.
