The statistics of childhood obesity are becoming more and more alarming — three out of 10 kids in our nation are considered obese. Often times, children don’t have a role model or guidance when it comes to healthy eating. If we educate and equip our kids with the best tools and information possible, we can change their futures!
The Boys and Girls Clubs of America, with over 100 years of making an impact in their communities, has teamed up with the global health and wellness company, Amway to create an exciting movement called Positive Sprouts. The Positive Sprouts program focuses on improving nutrition by providing local Boys & Girls Club members with the tools necessary to build and maintain their own community gardens. Through sustainability grants, DIY Garden In a Box Kits and a supporting educational curriculum, Amway is dedicated to encouraging healthy habits at Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.
All great programs need a jump start, and Amway has come through, big time! Amway is providing $30,000 in Sustainability Grants to ten deserving Boys & Girls Clubs who previously received community gardens from Amway. The funds are designed to assist Clubs with the maintenance of their garden as well as improve nutrition for Club members. This is so inspiring!
Garden In A Box Kits
Amway is donating 150 Garden In A Box kits to Boys & Girls Clubs who demonstrated an interest and need for establishing a community gardening program at their Club. The kit includes a variety of fruit and vegetable seeds and supplies Clubs need to get started. I love that these kids will be able to see where their food comes from, and that they’ll probably be more likely to try the food and eat it in the future because they’ve once grown it themselves!
POSITIVE SPROUTS® Curriculum
At the end of the day, a great program needs a strong educational backbone. Amway is enabling the delivery of a healthy food curriculum to 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide ensuring that all Clubs have access to educational materials promoting healthy eating habits.
Seeing this partnership between Amway and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America makes me smile. I am so happy that kids will be able to grow their own food, learn how to eat smart, and acquire skills that will help them be healthy throughout their lives!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Amway. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.
